.
"Sometimes we do not hear what we see... other times we do not see what we hear... and there are times where we neither can hear nor see at all... Yet, as it is fortunately given to the many of us; most of the time we actually see and hear - but what we see and hear are pure purviews; representing (only) the range of interest or activity that can be anticipated; purviews being that what makes us see and hear...
Sam says that 'a voodle must be both abstract and figurative. Abstract as a wall, figurative as a representation of space.', and bk says that this is oh so true since the voodle either is about the inconspicuous or a simple case of serendipity.
While the inconspicuous also has to bee seen first, it might as well be a representation of purview. Yet the focus on the inconspicuous can also be regarded as the abstraction of the figurative since it by definition is fighting purview. Serendipity on the other hand is no method since it occurs only in the realm of the waiting (a particular way to see and view) and thus can not necessarily influence the chain of action (possible purviews) that might or might not occur.
The voodle, or voodling, must be the greatest tool for any visual and creative craftswoman to experiment with and sophisticate her way of hearing, seeing and viewing... she learning to open up herself... giving new views back to the many of us... new views for new purviews...!
That's the paradox of the voodle; the inconspicuous, serendipity and purviews all happily mingled and producing each other... producing views and insights, documenting the unseen and creating new ideas or just cases of contiguity. The paradox of the inconspicuous, serendipity and purview coexisting... the voodle.
So far that's what bk thinks about the voodle and the voodling while he walks home one early morning... tired and with blisters on his feet... viewing only what is there to be seen... of course... hearing only what is there to be heard... of course... and forgetting it all soon after... of course..."

A not too short experimental docu-road-voodle by bk featuring an unedited long take shot in Oslo, Norway - 2008.06.09 at 02:19 am. Two days ago did moi introduce ccmixter's artemisstrong to bk and thats how voodles happen; the oh-ah song made almost forgotten footage come alive again. See the norwegian midsummernight, some vertical lines, a not so gloomy horizon and a church wrapped ...all enthusiastically framed by ...oh-ah's.

.
Long you both laid in the sun's yellow stare...
On the edge with eyes rolled back, the waves were calling him.
As he teetered on the edge, the waves were calling him.
He had seen it, felt its might, bent under...
(Washing away, he thinks of you. Everything slows, light's flashing through.
The water flies over his head. You are me now as you lay on my bed.)
This is what he'd always known:
The promise of something greater beyond the water's final horizon. ISIS
.
"No views can be the same - even though they decide on the exact time, purview and frame - they all will be different ...and together they create new views, new purviews and even trouble us on the reading of time...
Duration is freed in two simoultaneously shot views - that is the rule of the dooble-voodle ...and it's potential has yet to be discovered - the beginning and the end is just the start!"
.
A not too short experimental docu-voodle featuring two simultaneously shot videos; the worlds first screening of a dooble-voodle is showing in two frames two views taken out of a window of a hiper-speed train traveling through Tokyo - 2008.03.08.
Be aware that the dooble-voodle starts with just one single frame and no sound... 'The Beginning and The End' starts after approximately three minutes runtime and ends at the end right before the voodle ends... Tokyo on the other hand never ends and ends and ends...
.
Moi & b.k. are thrilled and extremely proud to introduce ISIS with their song 'The Beginning and The END' (from the 2002 album 'Oceanic') on LOMEG_ROM : voodles on CONTIGUITY. Thanks to the band for the permission to adapt their unbelievable persistent and insistant music for this world-premier of a dooble-voodle-video-work! Visit ISIS on their official site! and turn up the volume...

Still Blind Voodle Hunting Head

Video thumbnail. Click to play

.
A short experimental (because first we do, then we see) voodle by moi & bk featuring a blind edit of what once was captured in DogA, Oslo, Norway - 2006.11.28. text to be added... lomeglumiere # 058 " content lumiere" (quicktime / flash / mpeg-4) included... not that it really matters... content is not provided... and what you see is what you construct... this is an automatic voodle... text should be added tomorrow... blind cut-up footage... blind like most of the voodles so far... you see what you see when you see it... soundtrack by biosphere recorded on location... needs a comment too... remember to establish links to records of a life-installation... body and space morphologies are unplanned or accidental (blind and coincidental). This voodle used two minutes and 12 seconds in the making and it takes the viewer exactly two minutes and 30 seconds to view it (if you just view it, that is). This voodle uses crapy footage from way before voodle time and like many voodles it has not the slightest clue what it all is about. Text to be deleted or changed soon...

Time Lag

.
"Sometimes a man rises from the supper table
and goes outside. And keeps on going
because somewhere to the east there’s a church.
His children bless his name as if he were dead.

Another man stays at home until he dies,
stays with plates and glasses.
So then it is his children who go out
into the world, seeking the church that he forgot."
.
A not too short experimental docu-voodle by bk featuring an incredible beauteous moment of time lag captured in peaceful summer Oslo, Norway - 2008.07.23 at 19:05 hours. View three zoomed in glances at a fine young Norwegian woman (and thus time) standing still but not. It's neither Garbo nor 'filmkunst' but a docu-voodle with a very pleasant soundtrack by zikweb.
.
The space Rainer Maria Rilke talks about is neither the space of the wanderer nor is it the space of hereditary but it is the potential of time lag - an interstitial space or state constantly between the lines, full of longings and regrets, but for those who know it it's the space that moves mass.

A short voodle-voodle by bk trying to capture the nordic light present (or not...) at the constitution of an inter-nordic and truly candescent, buoyant, ignite and airy body of light in Copenhagen, Denmark - 2008.06.02. Moi, btw, thinks that b.k.'s voodles are getting increasingly voodle-alike; full of imperefection and naive decision-makings... beautiful, she says. B.k. on the other hand wouldn't know of such things... Listen to the fine accordeons produced by puie (ccmixter.org).

On The Third Season

Video thumbnail. Click to play

.
"Four days ago, Oslo started its day by looking at itself covered in fresh snow. It was the first snow at this end of the year. That day it kept snowing until noon. By early afternoon the snow was about to disappear and the colours of autumn did slightly emerge again. They pressed through the vanishing white on the ground. They sparkled against the heavy sky - and indeed the veil of grey that Oslo knows so well, vanished too.

In other parts of the world a place had started its day by looking at itself after a hurricane of some sort just passed by. Noon with its bright daylight is far ahead and the veil of grey sits within the place - is stuck to the place - and there seems to be no melting white. Nothing is vanishing – nothing there to introduce a change.

A voodler captures moments – that’s what she can do. Yet sometimes she forgets to voodle but stands still and numb… because not all the moments can be captured… there are not enough cameras to voodle with and morning, noon and evening happen so fast… some moments remain unspoken and un-voodled.

A voodler captures moments – and she does that every time at least twice." b.k.

On Video Sketching* and Body Takes

* To draw;
Make a drawing; make, formulate or give a description of an (your) absorption; take in, also metaphorically, the representation of an (your) absorption/attraction
* To doodle;
Make a doodle; draw aimlessly
* To paint;
Make a painting of; paint (colour) an absorption/attraction; apply paint to
.
Your intuition alert and with ‘Vertov’s subjective camera’ in mind; investigate in the properties/nature of body as the nude. Use the video camera as sketching tool and try to capture the properties of ‘body’ by drawing it, doodling it or painting it.
.
Your awareness is focused on:
The body/nude only – the body/nude as a still (n; akt). The body/nude as an object/matter of mass, volume, surface, form, shape, etc. The body/nude as the undraped human figure in art. The body/nude as the starting point - and an expression (of yours). The body/nude as being a resistance, receiver, absorber, etc.
.
You will not focus on:
The model as a person – the personality of the model. How the body is taking up space, how it is placed within the space and how it is grounded (standing, sitting etc). Sound/audible information.
A&F; MoBaS #2 – Fall 2008/AHO
.
A short experimental docu-voodle by bk featuring two simultaneously shot videos of a new doing* captured in Oslo, Norway - 2008.09.02. The second ever produced dooble-voodle shows in two frames two artistic and very different views on the body as the undraped human figure in art and hence proofes again that no views ever can be the same. See the classical lumiere to the right and the novelty of a video-sketch to the left - both for the sake of the dooble-voodle enhanced by digital means and very audible talents (soundtrack 'the dancers' by ccmixters onlymeith).

Talking Hands and Confabulations

click to play on Vimeo / YouTube or on the Internet Archive
.
A short experimental docu-voodle by moi featuring a schmooze of some sort and hence her confabulation on an incident that already seems long gone. The tattle of and on manus was captured in Oslo, Norway - 2008.09.13 - just the day after the world's first private screening of voodles and lumieres in a not so crowded public space near Kuba. Moi insists on that what we view are not only the (prehensile) extremities of the superior limbs of two voodlers and hence the representation of the female gaze, but it's the confirmation on and the commitment towards voodling and free subjective frozen frames. Talking hands are mashed-up with the help of Gurdonark and Colin Mutchler - both vital and vibrant members of ccmixter.org.
.
After a break of almost two months - gathering voodle-footage from the far east and the now old east-vest - LOMEG_ROM waves a friendly and grateful hand at The Lumiere Founders and at the godfather of LOMEG_ROM, The Co-Coiner of the voodle-term and The First Voodler of them all; Sam Renseiw at spacetwo : patalab. The Golem Diptych Video Painting

.
A short experimental diptych-voodle (aka dooble-voodle) featuring 27473 by two animated frozen frames. The Golem Diptych is a Video Painting once captured as two simultaneously shot long takes in Venice, Italy - 2009.11.06. Every single by two frame is now painted. The true beauty of a Video Painting Diptych resides constantly in its single by two frames. Thus this beauty recedes by the cinematic animation/automation of the video - like a Golem and animated, the moving imagery can never leave the singularity of the frames by two and hence recites the painting and beauty all over again - in each singular painted frame by two. The Golem Diptych is inspired by / and uses the work of Anchor Méjans (The Golem Variations - sawed-off cello sample), Speck (the golem calm heat variations cooling test) and rocavaco (From square till round) - all available and very much audible at ccMixter.org.

A short experimental voodle-voodle daydreaming on body and space morphologies of the common sort... pondering about why the results of all sportive events never are quite the same although the participants do practice year in / year out, day by day... wondering why some things move and some never do... why it is that air can stand still while heavy wind-casts are causing a headache... Immobile air is nothing to write home about - it's home as it was captured in Khur, Switzerland - 2009.04.09 at 11:59:00 until short after the 12:00:00 train passed by. Before the final is decided - AIR LOMEG want to express their gratitude for the runaway! Spoken words recorded by AIR_LOMEG on location, soundtrack overlay 'L'air immobile' by Anchor Méjans (search for more of this on ccmixter.org).

"Who will close my eyes for me?
When my last exhalation slips out unseen
No BPM left inside the machine
The piercing wink-out of a CRT screen-
Who will close my eyes for me?
Dust gathers on glass
Reflecting personal effects
Fingerprints and water remain
Bedside of what used to be
Who will close my eyes for me?
“Rest” is a verb; impossible now
“In peace” is subjective
-How can meat get upset?
Terrible solemn tenderness
As bald as lust,
As stark as an empty stomach,
Older than speech-
The frozen silence swells to fill the heart
Of the unknown one
Who will close my eyes for me."
Close My Eyes - duckett
