A short experimental docu-voodle by bk featuring a completely self contained and innocent play captured in Oslo, Norway - 2008.07.01 (at noon). View the magic that occurs when the purest of plays almost turns transcendent by a new, clear and innocuous play with gurdonarks very own innocence (view parts of his very oeuvre at ccmixter.org).

how wonderful! I had missed "play" the first time. When I created my song, I could not have hoped for a better place for it to be used.
Thank you! It's a delightful voodle.

To me, simple play is among the most transcendent things. It's such an interconnection among people--freed from most dogma and division.

Sam has written many times about it; the two, three and sometimes four steps of voodling until the voodle does occur.

What shall I say - it's a simple play - it's beautiful - it is very beautiful, indeed - and everybody congratulates us on the bell... as if it was something else then play!

Serendipity... has it ever been tried as religion?!

Ps;
for those not visiting gurdonark on ccmixter: the bell is there!

Thank you for "sending" me to search about serendipity. I never knew that Mr. Walpole coined the term, saying:

* Horace Walpole, The Letters of Horace Walpole, vol. 2, Letter 90, To Sir Horace Mann, Arlington Street, Jan. 28, 1754.[1]

"This discovery, indeed, is almost of that kind which I call Serendipity, a very expressive word, which, as I have nothing better to tell you, I shall endeavour to explain to you: you will understand it better by the derivation than by the definition. I once read a silly fairy tale, called "The Three Princes of Serendip;" as their Highnesses travelled, they were always making discoveries, by accidents and sagacity, of things which they were not in quest of: for instance, one of them discovered that a mule blind of the right eye had travelled the same road lately, because the grass was eaten only on the left side, where it was worse than on the right--now do you understand Serendipity? One of the most remarkable instances of this accidental Sagacity, (for you must observe that no discovery of a thing you are looking for comes under this description,) was of my Lord Shaftsbury, who, happening to dine at Lord Chancellor Clarendon's, found out the marriage of the Duke of York and Mrs. Hyde, by the respect with which her mother treated her at table".

The Three Princes of Serendip is an old Persian fairy tale based on serendipitious miracles. One of the miracles, about identifying a blind mule, has Talmudic origins. Perhaps your idea of a religion is not so far from the mark. Yet I can say for sure a "religion professor" came about by means of serendipity:

Surely no professor would found a religion based on being a professor, but a profession of faith by a professor of serendipity is another matter!

I like the idea that a skeptical person labels as serendipitous what a person of conventional faith labels a miracle--and they are both wrong, and right, and unable to understand the proverbial whirlwind, as it spins galaxies out in entropic directions, and there are voodles to be made, anyway.

I like this idea of serendipity as a "spirtual" force.

Interesting reading, indeed!
'My intellectual career is a tale of friendship and serendipity.' Beautiful... truly... to be able to open a self-biography with a sentence like this!!!
